Changes to the HSE approval system
There have been significant changes since October 1st 2013 to the way in which the HSE regulate First Aid at Work Training; in that the ‘approval system’ is no longer in force.
The responsibility for checking the suitability and credibility of the training provider has been passed to the employer. The employer now has more choices of training provider and increased responsibility to ensure the standards and quality of training provider suitably meet their work place needs.
Employers are continued by law to provide adequate and appropriate levels of first aid provision in their work place to respond to both illness and injury.
